Fellow Bloggers Help!!

As the title suggests, I need the help of my other awesome blogging friends. I have failed once again but this time it was working and no Internet besides what was on my phone or Kindle which was great but limited at best.

Back to the reason I am pleading is I am wanting to make killer comeback but I want to do something that my name suggests.. Randomness, I have a lot of just random books that i have read or never will but maybe someone else would. Maybe make a game out of it , I don`t know yet but I am intrigued with the idea of doing this with a random book. Even go as far as to leave limited information about the book and see how people react to it then. Please give your honest opinion, I want to do something I just dont have a lot of resources right now so I am starting with books I already have.

Teaser Tuesday (1)

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

 My teasers are:

He runs a hand through his hair and bites down on his bottom lip and for one delirious moment all I want to do is taste him. I force myself back into focus.

Not sure exactly what page it would be on an ebook but this is Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi, and let me tell you it's amazing so far!

What are your teasers?

Divergent Review (FINALLY!)

Check it out on Goodreads!

One choice can transform you. Pass initiation. Do not fail! Thrilling urban dystopian fiction debut from exciting young author. In sixteen-year-old Beatrice Prior's world, society is divided into five factions -- Abnegation (the selfless), Candor (the honest), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent) -- each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue, in the attempt to form a "perfect society." At the age of sixteen, teens must choose the faction to which they will devote their lives. On her Choosing Day, Beatrice renames herself Tris, rejects her family's group, and chooses another faction. After surviving a brutal initiation, Tris finds romance with a super-hot boy, but also discovers unrest and growing conflict in their seemingly "perfect society." To survive and save those they love, they must use their strengths to uncover the truths about their identities, their families, and the order of their society itself.

My thoughts:

I have read so many reviews for this book and considering that 89% of them have been in favor of it, I couldn't wait any longer. So after buying it at my local Wal-Mart, I got it home and had it read in 2 days. It kept me there the whole time. I have a lot of problems staying with a book that loses my interest, it takes me longer to finish it. In truth, a lot of books that had me wavering midway in with it's slowness, has captured me when it really mattered. Although Divergent didn't have that problem in the least.

Back to greatness, Divergent was just awesome. I loved everything about it, the different factions and what they represented, then the awesomeness of being an actual Divergent. I don't know, maybe it's the huge dystopian dork in me but I love this stuff! I love how everyone has a choice at a certain age. The main character is what I would want to be like, she is selfless, but badass all the same.

I sense an almost instant attraction between Tris and Four, then finding out how they all tie together just makes it that much of a better story. I commend Tris for all the struggles, losses, and gains that she has to go through. I can't really go into them, because I try not to spoil but I would definitely check this out if I were you! :)

I must take a hiatus..

I regret to inform you, my peeps and tweeps, that I have to take a bit of a break. I have had some things happen in the past two days that are going to set me way back. I have fought with myself because I want to let you know what happened... Mainly because it was done by someone I never thought would do stuff like he did, how any man with that kind of mind concept should seriously be checked into an institution for observation. I didn't want to say anything for the simple fact, it's not your problem, I don't want and am not looking for any kind of pity party. I have some wonderful people that are giving my children and me a place to stay till I can get on my feet again. Till I can give my kid's the stable life they deserve and not have fear of it crumbling at our feet. So here goes..

My ex and I have been going through a lot of hard times. From the time we got together we had the life of him working, and me staying home with my kids. Something I had never had the chance to do since I had my daughter in 2005. So when it was offered I definitely agreed. Plus we weren't hurting for money, rich by no means, but we got by with no problems. All of the sudden (and for the next couple of years) money comes up missing, small amounts at first, then 250 dollars gone. No trace, nothing. Every time he would deny it, but I caught him a lot of times in my purse which is where I kept the bill money.

Long story short, this escalated to being broke all the time, in 2 years time moving nearly 10 times. Rent and bills not getting paid, me depending on food stamps for food for the kids. Something else I never had to do before, even when I was doing it all on my own. Well a few weeks ago we found ourselves homeless, no where to go, no money, nothing. We started staying at my ex husband's house (yes, my ex husband. In fact, that's who we are staying with now) and my ex started smarting off because he wanted to sleep in till 11:00am on the couch. Embarrassing me at every turn because he thought we were on some kind of vacation. We needed to be out there finding jobs, getting us a place to live. Well he dropped us off at my ex husbands and left. He started texting me, telling me he was leaving, he broke the steering rack on my car. He was going to take the keys to my moms and vamoose. I decided then that I was done, I had to concern myself with getting a life for my kids, a place they could call home for more than a couple of months. And I had to do that with or without him, so I told him I was done. He went to my storage building and destroyed all my furniture, a lot of my books (I didn't go completely through everything), and every shread of clothes I had. All I had was the jeans I had on, 3 shirts, 1 pair of underwear, and 1 bra.

You might think this is bad enough and it is.. How could you do that to someone, anyone. He even destroyed a lot of my daughter's clothes and purses, that stuff just doesn't fly with me. Then to beat it all he sells my car, leaving me with no transportation.

NOW I am happy to report that everything is going wonderful, I went out and got a job. Nothing fabulous, but it gets the bills paid :) I just recently got my internet hooked up and I am wanting to jump right back into the book review thing.  If you read previously, I lost most all of my books that I received for review and while I am not looking for extra copies, I am answering a lot of authors that have been asking me for their reviews. I hope this does not dispel anyone from trusting me with reviews in the future. I never plan on putting myself in that situation again. I am very happy with my life right now and who I am spending it with. I feel I am with the person I was always meant to be with. We have both went through a lot of the same trials and tribulations to get where we are now and we couldn't be happier. We have our own place and we have the kids so nothing could be better right now :) Big thanks to the people that didn't stop following me, I appreciate that more than you will ever know. I am planning a email change in the future, but that is something that is going to take awhile to change over. I will keep everyone updated as I go. So as always keep reading because I have been and I have some reviews to work on including Divergent by Veronica Roth (Which I loved!) and am currently reading Forever by Maggie Stiefvater. So keep in touch and email me if anyone has any specific questions for me. Love to all of you!!!

Dead Spell Review

17-year-old Harmony Wolcott is slowly succumbing to the haunting darkness of a forgotten memory. Afraid to ask for help or admit what's happening to her and around her, Harmony looks for the truth while trying to escape what it's done to her family.
Dead Spell is about a ghost with a past and a girl that would die to forget it.

My thoughts:
Dead Spell is one of those book that doesn't offer in depth descriptions, but what it does offer is fast paced action. I love a book where I feel something towards the main characters. And that was definitely the case with Harmony and Brea. Harmony is handed a crappy hand in life and has to deal with an addict mother and other people that just want to see her fail in every way. Brea is her best friend (really her only friend) that sticks by her no matter what.

I connected with Harmony is a lot of ways, with a lot of the issues that she deals with. I saw my teenage self in her and although I wasn't near as destructive as her, I still felt the connection with her regardless. When learning that a lot of her misgivings were because of a ghost that was haunting her, I was totally engrossed in the story even more. The writing style was exquisite and I can't wait to read more from this author. She knows how to put a story out there that's not too hard to believe, but at the same time awkward enough to keep you reading till it ends.

I loved the relationship between Harmony and her boyfriend (his name escapes me for the moment). He is like Brea and is out to help and protect Harmony is anyway necessary, most of all from herself. There were things in the book that happened that I hated, but the book wouldn't have been the same and had the same ending if they didn't happen. So I understand that they had to happen (doesn't mean I have to like it).. :) This book gets an

Starcrossed: Perigee Review

Aric Brennan is a whisperer - a perfectly engineered human/alien hybrid, designed specifically to charm and seduce. When Lucy is stalked by his unearthly creators, she has no choice but to trust him to help her navigate a way through a horrifying reality - a reality filled with creatures which should really only exist in nightmares.

My thoughts: (Warning! May contact slight spoilers)

This book to me was amazing! Coming from someone that loved watching X-Files growing up this was definitely my bag of tea. When it first started with the character, Lucy waking up in a barn in horse manure, I was a little taken back. But after the first couple of pages I was hooked! When she meets Aric, it's like her whole life is turned upside down and she learns things about herself and things all around her that aren't quite as they seem.

One of the big things that I loved about this book was the concept of it. Aric is a whisperer, which to me gave me the impression of when a vampire “glamours” someone. He basically makes it easier for the people that the aliens abduct by calming their nerves. But there's so much more to it, harvesting wyk, which is explained as energy. The things that the characters are able to do with wyk is amazing as well.. I could go on and on, but I don't want to give away toooo much :)

Another thing that I loved about it is the relationship between Aric and Lucy. It's a real love, but your average lustful yearning that a lot of paranormal romances have. From what I felt while reading it, they genuinely care for each other, and Aric one mission is to protect Lucy at all cost. Very chivalrous in the way he treats her, and let's be honest ladies, that's always a good thing for a man to have.

If you are wanting something fast paced and full of action, then this is definitely one that I would recommend. In my opinion, it's one of the best paranormal romances that I have read and I would recommend to anyone. This book get a solid

Spikebreaker Review

Telepaths are heavily regulated, virtual third class citizens, second class if working for the Specialist Psychic Intervention unit, dealing with psychic crimes, and handling Spikes, newly emerged telepaths endangering all around them. Lydia is a SPI telepath. Jack is her Spikebreaker, a mentally compatible police officer. Together they fight, well, mainly each other.

My thoughts:

I really enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would. I love the whole concept of the telepaths that help the law enforcement officers. How awesome would it be knowing that you have someone looking out for you in every way, be able to scan others minds and see their intentions and let you know without making a sound. I know I am rambling but I am fascinated with telepathy stuff. Always have been, one of my favorite book series is the Bishop/Special Crimes Unit. They are a group of people that have different gifts concerning telepathy. Things like empaths, telepaths, touch telepaths, seers, mediums, Psychometrics, clairvoyants, ah.. it's always something new and the stories are amazing.

But back to Spikebreakers... (Sorry!) I was especially impressed on the relationship between the two main characters, Jack and Lydia. She is a SPI telepath and Jack is what's called a Spikerbreaker. But it's a meeting of the minds, not something that just happens. There's a bond between them, and most the time they are arguing because they are both bull-headed and determined to do what they feel is best. For this being such a short read (11,000 word novelette), it's awesome. I hope there is going to be more but it done a good job ending without too much of a cliffhanger.

Perfect if you want a quick weekend read, I read it in one setting (everyone was asleep but me, which is rare lol) and loved that it really made me think. I would recommend to anyone, because it grabbed me from page one, if you like action, this is perfect because it's going strong the whole time. Definitely an

Hey Peeps!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I haven't disappeared or given up on the whole reading/reviewing/blogging thing. My family and I have had some issues here the last week and I haven't had much time to do anything let alone get on the computer.. So now as I am looking through my mound of email and looking at all the awesomeness I have gotten in mailbox past couple of weeks I know I need to do some major catching up and I plan to do so.. I have a review or 3 to come :) (One can always find little bits of time to read) One definite review is Starcrossed: Perigee by Tracy Lee Campbell (LOVED it) and I finished up Amanda Hocking's vampire series. I loved them as well, but I don't know.. It didn't end the way I thought it might, but awesome all the same!

I can't wait to let everyone know what all I am reading and what I have got in the mail. I feel uber spoiled by the most awesome authors/publishers that have sent their books, and too all the awesome giveaways (won my first blog book giveaway *happy dance* and just got it in the mail!) So I am going to go now and get everything together to start getting my posts in order and what not..

Thanks again for the ones that held on! Good times are ahead (I think) so I can get back to business :)
